MECHTRONIX SUPPORTS OKTAL IN THE PRODUCTION OF TWELVE COMPACT TRAIN SIMULATORS FOR THE STM

Montreal, June 27 2012 – The French simulation company Oktal has chosen Mechtronix to manufacture the complete hardware for the training units destined to the STM’s (Société des Transports de Montréal) brand new training classrooms. The classrooms will comprise a total of twelve Compact Simulators and the associated Instructors, Observers and Scenario Preparation Stations. These will be used to enhance the current training capacities of the STM on their current fleet of MR-73 cars. The completion of the hardware for the first prototype of the Compact Simulator is expected for the end of June 2012 and the delivery of the complete simulators by Oktal before the end of 2012.

Mechtronix’ vertically integrated manufacturing capabilities as well as its extensive experience in delivering the latest technologies to civil and general aviation organizations greatly contributed to Oktal’s decision to choose Mechtronix as a supplier for this project. Additionally, Mechtronix’ readily available after-sales support services will considerably maximize the availability of the training devices.

The Compact Simulators are designed to accurately replicate the ergonomics of the train driver’s working area. Comprised of three visual screens, three control screens and the simulated driver’s controls; the training units are designed to represent either the MR-73 or the new MPM-10 train scheduled for delivery in 2014.
