ALPHA AVIATION GROUP ORDERS MECHTRONIX FNPT II MCC JET TRANSITION TRAINER

Leading Aviation Group will Use the Simulator for
MPL Phase II at United Arab Emirates Base

MONTREAL, June 29, 2010 – Mechtronix Systems Inc., an MWC company, a world leading manufacturer of Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTD), today announced that Alpha Aviation Group has placed an order for an Ascent® XJ Trainer™ to be installed at their United Arab Emirates training center in Sharjah, Alpha Aviation Academy UAE (Alpha). The FSTD, configured as a commercial jet aircraft, will be used for Phase II of the MPL curriculum and will also enable Alpha to train their pilot students for Jet Orientation and MCC in a jet environment. At customer’s request, the unit will be certified as per EASA regulations for JAR-FSTD A FNPT II MCC; it will also comply with ICAO FSTD Type II requirements.

“The Ascent® XJ Trainer™ is the perfect simulation platform to train our students for the basic phase of the MPL curriculum; it will enable them to familiarize themselves with the complex environment of a jet aircraft before they start MPL Phase III,” said Andrew McIntosh, Regional Director Operations at Alpha. “When we started to search for an educational device that would enable us to perform MPL Phase II, we quickly found that Mechtronix had the most complete suite of training solutions for such a curriculum. It was fundamental for us to train our pilot students in a jet environment and provide our airline customers with well-trained and knowledgeable pilots. The very high level of fidelity of the trainer was central in our decision to choose Mechtronix as was their success with other early implementers of MPL worldwide.”

“We are grateful that a leading aviation group like Alpha chose Mechtronix with this new order for the Ascent® XJ Trainer™. In the context of the MPL program, it once again establishes the Ascent XJ Trainer as an ideal piece of equipment for professional ab-initio training curricula,” said Mechtronix Systems President Hervé. “Furthermore, this new sale in the Middle East region confirms Mechtronix’ leading position in the Professional Aviation Training segment and especially with Flight Training Organizations offering MPL curriculum. We are very happy to add Alpha to our growing list of customers worldwide and we trust they will provide airlines in the Middle East with the best trained next generation pilots.”

Configured as a generic twin-engine heavy jet aircraft, the Ascent® XJ Trainer™ integrates a suite of advanced avionics such as TCAS, EGPWS, FMS and weather radar to familiarize Alpha’s pilot students with the automated flight deck as well as the performance and speeds of today’s modern jet aircraft. Featuring a 180° x 35° projected display, the FSTD provides the highest level of visual fidelity via a Raster/xT Image Generator from RSI. A lesson plan editor enabling the instructors to prep-program scenarios and build a library of training sessions is also included; students’ performances can be measured and compared in similar conditions.
