MONTREAL, January 26, 2010 - Mechtronix Systems, a division of Mechtronix World Corp. (MWC), a world leading manufacturer of Flight Simulation Training Devices, today announced the successful certification of the two Ascent(R) Flight Trainers(TM) recently installed at Malaysian Flying Academy’s (MFA) brand new training facility in Malacca. The two trainers have been certified JAR FSTD A FNPT II by the Malaysian Civil Aviation Authorities, DCA.
The Ascent(R) Flight Trainers(TM) are configured as a multi-engine piston Seneca III with a conversion kit for Piper Warrior. They feature a 180 x 40 degree visual system and a RSI Image Generator providing exceptional FFS-like fidelity to its users. Its semi-enclosed IOS area enables easy interaction between instructor and student. The unit is also equipped with a lesson plan editor for scenario-based training, enabling the instructor to preprogram and record preset scenarios for unlimited use, thus all students’ performances can be measured to the same criteria.
“We are delighted with the successful certification of our Ascent(R) Flight Trainers(TM); Mechtronix’ leading technology enables us to provide high-standard IR training while lowering costs by reducing aircraft training time”, said MFA Managing Director Puan Seri Sharifah Zarah binti Syed Kechik AlBukhary. “The Ascent(R) Flight Trainers(TM) are fully compliant to our criterion based on affordability, performance and reliability and they enable us to lower flying time while providing our students with an expert knowledge of the aircraft.”
“Mechtronix’ team of professionals collaborated with us from day one and their great experience enabled a smooth certification process which resulted in the successful qualification of both units,” said Steve Terry, Chief Instructor at MFA. “We are very proud of our new training facilities and equipment which are turning MFA into a world class academy.”
“We are very happy about our collaboration with MFA; this new success in Malaysia establishes once again Mechtronix’ leading position on the flourishing Asian market and we are honored to contribute to the expansion of top flying academies such as MFA,” said Mechtronix Systems’ President Hervé. “Mechtronix’ state-of-the-art technology proves to be ideally suited to meet with the growing needs on the Asian market, providing excellent training solutions in terms of cost-efficiency, reliability and performance.”
About Malaysian Flying Academy
The Malaysian Flying Academy (MFA) is a Malaysian pioneer in professional flight training that was established in 1982 and has been in continuous operation since 1987. MFA envisions its primary role in the education and training of professional pilots for major world airlines and other regular public air transport operators. MFA aims to fully prepare its cadet pilots for a flying career in the commercial aviation industry. A commercial pilot course graduate from MFA will be a professional pilot equipped with the level of aviation knowledge and accompanying aeronautical skill and ratings ready to be inducted into a major world airlines’ narrow body fleet.
MFA has successfully trained and continues to train cadet pilots for major world airlines for the past two decades such as Malaysian Airlines, Air Asia, Singapore Airlines, Silk Air, Jetstar Airways and Air Mauritius as well as air regiments from Polis DiRaja Malaysia. MFA cadet pilot alumni have come as far afield as Australia, Portugal, France, Hungary, Maldives, Mauritius, Myanmar, Iraq, Iran, Libya, United Arab Emirates, India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Finland, Japan, Oman, Yemen, Singapore and of course Malaysia.
MFA is an internationally recognized International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) listed advanced tertiary institution fully approved and accredited by the Department of Civil Aviation, Malaysia (DCA).
